OSE4.6.x install hangs on linux
Q: I'm trying to install OSE4.6.1 mounted on a linux system CD drive. The install doesn't appear to complete - it hangs during the file extraction, and the OSE destination directory exists but is empty.
A: If you followed the installation instructions in the docs for 4.6, you would be in the same directory as /mnt/cdrom, or /media/cdrecorder, or whatever applies for your linux. Some systems (Debian in particular) will hang up during the CD installation of OSE if the java commands are run from the CD mountpoint. Change directories to whichever OSE destination directory you wanted to use, and issue the same java installation command but prepend each .jar filename with the fully-qualified path to the CD mountpoint:
java -cp /media/cdrecorder/suite_l.jar:/media/cdrecorder/acrobat.jar:/media/cdrecorder/dmake.jar:/media/cdrecorder/delta.jar:/media/cdrecorder/flexlm.jar:/media/cdrecorder/htmlman.jar:/media/cdrecorder/chmman.jar:/media/cdrecorder/pdfman.jar:/media/cdrecorder/webhman.jar:/media/cdrecorder/winpcap.jar -Xms50M -Xmx200M run
Issuing the command outside of the CD directory should get the installation going.
